JB (Jeff) Schwartzberg, Co-Founder and Managing Principal at Premier Commercial Real Estate, has developed a vast background and proven track record in commercial real estate spanning over three decades. Mr. Schwartzberg brings that knowledge to Premier, leading its’ day-to-day business operations. He is widely recognized in the industry as one of Long Island’s Top, Most Knowledgeable, commercial real estate professionals. Moreover, he is actively and integrally involved in every transaction and challenge that Premier experiences, personally attending to all of its’ customers, and clients, real estate issues.
Prior to co-founding Premier along with his partner Jason Miller in late 2013, Mr. Schwartzberg spent nearly fifteen years with Sutton & Edwards and Colliers International, ultimately rising to the position of Senior Executive Director, Industrial Properties-Long Island. Further, he has been named a Co-Star “Power Broker” nearly every year and has participated in industrial property sales and leases involving millions of square feet, representing owners, buyers and tenants. And Premier has been a complete success story unto itself, having received a host of industry awards from Long Island Business News, including “Top Commercial Real Estate Firm” and the “Years’ Largest Commercial Real Estate Transactions”. Mr. Schwartzberg and his partner are often tapped by the various commercial real estate industry leaders and industry trade publications, for their in-depth knowledge of the local market, their problem-solving skills and their views on future trends. But most importantly is Premiers’ philosophy, as a small boutique firm. As Jeff likes to put it, ”we are easy to do business with and we dedicate our personal attention to each and every client, as if their issues are our issues”.
Before becoming a full time Broker, Jeff enjoyed several years with First Industrial Realty Trust (one of the nations’ largest industrial REITs, headquartered in Chicago) as Senior Investment Officer for the nations’ Northeast Region. During his time with First Industrial, Jeff became an expert on “investment” property acquisitions and, in fact, in just two years, he was credited with spearheading the aggressive growth of the company’s Northeast Regional portfolio, from approximately two and a half million square feet to over eight million square feet. Prior to joining First Industrial, Jeff spent twenty years in various roles within the Defense Industry, as a Senior Executive with Sperry Corporation, Loral Corporation, and Lockheed Martin Corporation.
A well-respected and active member of the Real Estate Industry, Mr. Schwartzberg was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of Long Islands’ Commercial Industrial Brokers Society (CIBS) and in fact, served eight years on its’ executive board, ultimately becoming President. He currently sits on the Advisory Committee to the board. He had also earned membership into the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR), where he is a former member in good standing. Jeff is also proud of his having earned status as a certified NYS instructor of continuing education for real estate professionals.
Community-minded, he served for fourteen years as a Village Official in the Village of Roslyn Estates; initially serving as Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals and ultimately he served six years (three terms) as the Village Mayor. Today, Jeff serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, a mentoring organization for Long Island’s youth. As well, Mr. Schwartzberg currently holds a position on the Advisory Board of New Ground, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance, education and empowerment to families and veterans caught in a cycle of homelessness.
Mr. Schwartzberg is honored to be a product of The Bronx (aka “Da Bronx”). He earned an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Queens College and holds an MBA in Financial Management from Iona College. Today, Jeff lives on the water in Massapequa, where he enjoys spending time with his family (including his Dachshund, Puma) and admiring the beauty of Long Island’s Great South Bay, while relaxing in his rear yard or on his boat.
